Register for September Online Guitar Workshop

Hi guitar friends,

I am venturing into a new realm of online teaching and will be conducting an online group workshop through the month September, back to school style. It will run for four classes, one hour per week. Only six "chairs" are available, so reserve one early before they fill up! The class will be a focused on "intermediate flatpicking". The group aspect of  the class will connect 6 students, passionate about learning guitar, for a month of study. In other words, guitar friends!

Below is a short summary of each week along with a sign-up and inquiry form.

Looking forward to this! Come "Google hangout" with me and we'll talk guitar. Sign up soon as spots will fill up quickly.

Class details:

September 6, 13, 20, 27

8-9pm EST

$210 for 4 classes. This includes PDF class handouts and recordings, as well as email contact throughout the week, if questions arise.

Week 1: Left and Right Hand Technique

We'll spend a little time with each of our hands, learning to use the weight of our bodies, rather than muscle power to play the guitar. We'll check in on how our bodies interact with our guitars; shoulder blades connected to our fingers and hips connected to our wrists.

Week 2: Melody Week

Learning to learn the melody, play the melody and listen for the melody in improvisation. As well as fiddle tune composition; learning to see the way a tune is built in phrases.

Week 3: Rhythm Week

We'll be taking a look at our right hands, and learn how to gain fluidity between lead and rhythm playing. The heart of rhythm guitar playing is in supporting and making the music around you better, whether that be the other musicians you're playing with, or your own voice. And come to think of it, that may be at the heart of more than just rhythm guitar playing!

Week 4: Fretboard Work

Simplifying the way we see the fretboard, in rhythm playing and improvisation, We'll also delve into some chord talk. Learning to utilize inversions and open strings.

What internet requirements are there?

Will we have a chance to connect before our first class? Yes! We will have a group meet and greet Sept 5th, the evening before our first class. This will serve to make sure everyone can make sure their technology is up and running and meet each other before the first class.

How do I pay? I use Paypal for all lesson payments. After you sign-up for the class, I will send you the information to submit payment. If you do not already have a Paypal account, you can easily set up an account here
