Album Press Release:
Courtney Hartman, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter for GRAMMY-nominated band, Della Mae, is set to release Nothing We Say, her first solo project, on Sept 30. The EP, which features 5 original compositions, was recorded on the Colorado plains in Del Norte, and finished at eTown Studios, Boulder, CO.
Created in a quite, wintered cabin, the songs are intimate and warming, drawing inspiration from Courtney's current home of Brooklyn and her Colorado heritage. She called on the help of renowned bassist, Mark Schatz as well as the drumming of Michael John Mckee for a few of the tracks. The album was co-produced with New York-based engineer, Jacob Blumberg (Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn).
Colorado native, Courtney Hartman has become one of the most well-respected guitarists in the American-Roots music world. She moved to the east coast from Loveland in 2009 after receiving a scholarship to attend the prestigous Berklee College of Music.
Her work has been heralded by music and critics and her peers. Acoustic Guitar Magazine named her to their "30 Under 30" list, and jazz guitar virtuoso Julian Lage lauded her as "one of the great guitarists of our generation." The Fretboard Journal wrote that Courtney is "easily one of the greatest flatpicking guitarists performing today,"
In 2011, she joined Grammy-nominated band, Della Mae, and spent the following five years touring full-time in over 30 countries as well as writing and recording two albums for Rounder Records. Courtney continues to perform solo, opening for bands Lake Street Dive and The Stray Birds and has collaborated with artists Mike Campbell, Robert Ellis, Jim Lauderdale and Buffy St Marie. She is currently based in Brooklyn, NY
